A proposal from Jarryd Phillips
For The Metropolitan Golf Club

I built the Met a new website.

When I heard the club was exploring a new website, I built one rather than pitch for it. It is live right now, and it is the club's to use. My proposal is simple: I build and host the site, and in exchange, a golf membership for me.

No fee to the club Hosting included 10 pages, fully responsive Live tee-time booking
Why I did this

A website worthy of the finest 9-hole course in Africa

The Met sits in the heart of Cape Town with views few clubs in the world can match. The current website does not yet tell that story: it is slow, dated on mobile, and bookings are scattered across separate systems. I rebuilt it around the three goals in the club's note: modern and mobile-first, supporting visitor bookings, and lifting the club's presence online.

What I built

Everything, already done

Cinematic video hero

The club's own course footage front and centre, with Table Mountain, the city and the Atlantic doing the talking from the first second.

Live tee-time booking

The GreenFee365 tee sheet embedded directly in the site, so visitors check availability and book in seconds without leaving the page.

Mobile-first, 10 pages

Course, green fees, membership, events, clubhouse, history, gallery and contact, all flawless on a phone where most golfers will find you.

Self-service editing

Update green fees, swap the hero video, add events or photos through a simple admin, no developer needed.

Fast and findable

Built for speed and search, with clean structure and proper meta so the Met ranks and loads the way a premium club should.

Heritage, told properly

From 1895 to the Mark Muller redesign, the club's story is woven through the site to turn first-time visitors into members.

Before and after

The difference, at a glance

The current site

  • Slow to load, dated layout on mobile
  • Booking split across a separate shop domain and phone
  • Green fees and visitor info hard to find
  • No video, little sense of the views
  • Events and functions barely marketed

The new site

  • Fast, polished, mobile-first throughout
  • Live booking embedded right on the page
  • Clear green fees, visitor and membership pages
  • Cinematic video hero that sells the experience
  • A dedicated events and functions section

The arrangement

A simple exchange.

No agency pitch, and no fee. I build the club a complete website and host it, kept maintained, secure and running. In exchange, a single golf membership for me.

The club gets

A website, built and hosted

The full site you can see live now, hosted, maintained, kept secure and kept running, at no cost to the club. I handle everything behind the scenes.

In exchange
A golf membership.

A single golf membership at the Met, for me. That is the only thing I am asking for in return.

That is the whole arrangement. No fee, no catch.

Why it will be done properly

This is what I do for a living

Building and hosting fast, modern websites is my work, through my Cape Town studio, Lumanaire. So this is not a weekend favour that breaks in a month. It is a real, maintained site, built and kept running to a professional standard.

Next steps

Simple from here

Take a look

Browse the live site, share it with the committee, and tell me what you would change.

I refine and hand over

I adjust copy, drop in any club photography or video you would like, and connect the booking exactly how you want it.

Go live on your domain

I point metropolitangolfclub.co.za at the new site and look after it from there. No cost to the club.
